La Reine de Coupes / The Queen of Cups, Tarot de Besançon.

Sale price$183.00

The Tarot de Besançon is a traditional tarot deck that originated in Besançon, France, in the 18th century. It is similar to the Tarot of Marseille but has some distinct differences, particularly in the representation of certain cards.

In the Tarot de Besançon, the Pope (Le Pape) and the Popess (La Papesse) are replaced by Jupiter (Jupiter) and Juno (Junon), reflecting the Enlightenment era's preference for classical mythology over religious figures.

This deck was used for both divination and card games and remains an important part of tarot history and heritage.
